Caravaggio. The last time 1606-1610
Museo
di Capodimonte
From October 24 2004 to February
6 - 2005
More than twenty masterpieces (and ten ancient copies of
disappeared pictures), an exhibition without precedent about
an artist who explored the passions, the destiny, the
mysterious human condition. The years since 1606 to 1610, the
ending of an unquiet and intense life, concentrate experiences
and great works, the magic, the presage of the end. In Naples,
in Malta, Syracuse, Messina, Palermo, again Naples, Caravaggio
finds vital incentives for his ispiration: 'joie de vivre',
the baseness, the piety, the compassion, inspire now the
consciousness of his "last time".
